On Monday December 18 th, 2023, 17.00 hrs, the online media platform The Ulkopolitist, the Swedish-Finnish Cultural Center Hanaholmen and the think tank Elisabeth Rehn – Bank of Ideas, are hosting a Presidential Election Debate for the January 2024 Finnish Presidential Election that puts the Nordic countries at the heart of the security debate and seeks answers for how the candidates see the role of Nordic cooperation as part of broader foreign and security policy thinking.

The inaugural Nordic Security Dialogue event will bring together policy-makers from the Nordics and the Baltics to discuss the comprehensive security landscape, improving approaches to Nordic-Baltic security cooperation and governance and how to respond to new crises transcending national borders.

Summary & Recording of the event held on March 16, 2022 when Elisabeth Rehn Bank of Ideas and E2 Research organized an online event. The speakers of the event were Mr. Vasyl Myroshnychenko, Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Dr. Hanna Smith Director of Research and Analysis at the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, and Ms. Kersti Kaljulaid, Former President of Estonia. The event was attended by more than 100 foreign and security policy experts and media representatives. The purpose of the event was to hear about the current situation in Ukraine on the ground, and to find answers to what the Nordic and Baltic states could do more to support Ukraine and improve common security.
